Western Airlines was one of the Airport's earliest carriers, along with Northwest and United. Western began service in 1947, offering service from Seattle to San Fransisco, and later they added Los Angeles, via Portland. During Western's first full year of operations out of Sea-Tac, 13,217 passengers departed on their planes.

1949 was a big year for Sea-Tac. On July 9, 30,000 visitors helped celebrate the dedication of the new administration building. Taking on the task of ambassador and tour guide were the Western AIrlines Stewardesses.
